time to expand your vocabulary

a-z compendium of healthy, exalted, positive states of being.

* ACUTE FLUENCY. Happily immersed in artistic creation or scientific exploration; lost in a trance-like state of inventiveness that’s both blissful and taxing; surrendered to a state of grace in which you’re fully engaged in a productive, compelling, and delightful activity. The joy of this demanding, rewarding state is intensified by a sense that time has been suspended, and is rounder and deeper than usual. (Suggested by H. H. Holiday, who reports that extensive studies in this state have been done by Mihaly Cziscenmihaliy in his book, Flow: The Psychology of Optimal Experience.)

* AESTHETIC BLISS. Vividly experiencing the colors, textures, tones, scents, and rhythms of the world around you, creating a symbiotic intimacy that dissolves the psychological barriers between you and what you observe. (Suggested by Jeanne Grossetti.)

* AGGRESSIVE SENSITIVITY. Animated by a strong determination to be receptive and empathetic.

* ALIGNMENT WITH THE INFINITY OF THE MOMENT. Reveling in the liberating realization that we are all exactly where we need to be at all times, even if some of us are temporarily in the midst of trial or tribulation, and that human evolution is proceeding exactly as it should, even if we can’t see the big picture of the puzzle that would clarify how all the pieces fit together perfectly. (Suggested by Meredith Jones.)

* AUTONOMOUS NURTURING. Not waiting for someone to give you what you can give yourself. (Suggested by Shannen Davis.)

* BASKING IN ELDER WISDOM. A state of expansive ripeness achieved through listening to the stories of elders. (Suggested by Annabelle Aavard.)

* BIBLIOBLISS. Transported into states of transcendent pleasure while immersed in reading a favorite book. (Suggested by Catherine Kaikowska.)

* BLASPHEMOUS REVERENCE. Acting on the knowledge that the most efficacious form of devotion to the Divine Wow is tinctured with playful or mischievous behavior that prevents the buildup of fanaticism.

* BOO-DUH NATURE. Dwelling in the blithe understanding of the fact that worry is useless because most of what we worry about never happens. (Suggested by Timothy S. Wallace.)

* COMIC INTROSPECTION. Being fully aware of your own foibles while still loving yourself tenderly and maintaining confidence in your ability to give your specific genius to the world. To paraphrase Alan Jones, Dean of Grace Cathedral: following the Byzantine ploys of your ego with compassion and humor as it tries to make itself the center of everything, even of its own suffering and struggle.

* COMPASSIONATE DISCRIMINATION. Having astute judgment without being scornfully judgmental; seeing difficult truths about a situation or person without closing your heart or feeling superior. In the words of Alan Jones: having the ability “to smell a rat without allowing your ability to discern deception sour your vision of the glory and joy that is everyone’s birthright.”

* CRAZED KINDNESS. Having frequent, overpowering urges to bestow gifts, disseminate inspiration, and perpetrate random acts of benevolence.

* ECSTATIC GRATITUDE. Feeling genuine thankfulness with such resplendent intensity that you generate a surge of endorphins in your body and slip into a full-scale outbreak of euphoria.

* EMANCIPATED SURRENDER. Letting go of an attachment without harboring resentment toward the stimuli that led to the necessity of letting go. (Suggested by Timothy S. Wallace.)

* FRIENDLY SHOCK. Welcoming a surprise that will ultimately have benevolent effects.

* HIGHWAY EQUANIMITY. Feeling serene, polite, and benevolent while driving in heavy traffic. (Suggested by Shannen Davis.)

* HOLY LISTENING. Hearing the words of another human being as if they were a direct communication from the Divine Wow to you.

* IMAGINATIVE TRUTH-TELLING. Conveying the truth of any specific situation from multiple angles, thereby mitigating the distortions that result from assuming the truth can be told from a single viewpoint.

* IMPULSIVE LOVE SPREADING. Characterized by a fierce determination to never withhold well-deserved praise, inspirational encouragement, positive feedback, or loving thoughts; often includes a tendency to write love letters on the spur of the moment and on any medium, including napkins, grocery bags, and skin. (Suggested by Laurie Burton.)

* INADVERTENT NATURE WORSHIP. Experiencing the rapture that comes from being outside for extended periods of time. (Suggested by Sue Carol Robinson.)

* INGENIOUS INTIMACY. Having an ability to consistently create deep connections with other human beings, and to use the lush, reverential excitement stimulated by such exchanges to further deepen the connections. A well-crafted talent for dissolving your sense of separateness and enjoying the innocent exultation that erupts in the wake of the dissolution. (Suggested by Sue Carol Robinson.)

* JOYFUL POIGNANCE. Feeling buoyantly joyful about the beauty and mystery of life while remaining aware of the sadness, injustices, wounds, and future fears that form the challenges in an examined life. (Suggested by Alka Bhargava.)

ƒ*#$&*#wtf$$ – the MonsantoMafia suing Vermont for law to label GMOs in a continued battle of corporate vs. human – Nourished Warrior Wellness: EMPOWER

well it’s official, Corporations now have more rights than Humans do. ( maybe that’s been official for some time but this new kickinthepants against the campaign to label GMO’s is one toke over the line sweet jesus.

Just when i’d finished marching against them and was feeling a tiny smidge confident about the cresting-wave-collective action that is taking place across the globe, The Monsanto Mafia pulled out a (cancerridden, filthydirty) ace from its genetically modified ass – and is filing suit against the state of Vermont. The GMA ( grocery manufacturers association –  which reads like a who’s who of corporate criminality includes Monsanto, Dow, General Mills etc. )  filed suit in U.S. Court in the State of Vermont to pre-empt Vermont’s H.112 ( read it here ) a law requiring mandatory labeling of foods sold@ retail containing genetically modified organisms ( the law also prohibits food companies from labeling GMO foods as “natural” or “all natural.” )

The huge achievement for grassroots social justice that came to fruition on May 8th, with Vermont whilst defying threats of legal action, passed the US’s inaugural law requiring mandatory labeling of GMOS is now under threat by the World’s largest supplier of genetically modified organsims ( and the billion dollar backers- spending and threatening and lobbying endlessly – to keep you in the dark. )

Up until then Monsanto and the GMA had been successful in their attempts to block GMO labeling legislation in 30+ states.  Just to put some perspective to it ( for the peeps who need to see hard numbers attached to gauge impact ) The cost to run their anti-right-to-know, anti-life, lobbying and advertising barrage cost around $100 million from 2012 until 2014, ( otherwise known to them as pocket-change )  & according to several sources 12 of that $million went to laundered donations to I-522 ( The Washington State GMO labeling ballot initiative ) All of the filthy money that funds this ridiculous and at once, horrific corruption comes from the giants who compose the GMA. ( and very likely put food on your table daily )

So until now this stronghold’s been enforced as such, this cash-saturated battle against humanity has been waged and won across the country of America, now that Vermont has passed their law with Oregon following in November – the balance is shifting- but it needs to shift more. 60+ countries have banned GMO’s- is North America really so hog-tied and enslaved? Beyond the righttoknow, transparency and ethics issue of labeling, peeps really ought be concerned when a multi-billion dollar corporate lobbying group sues to overturn a state’s hard-won-right to govern for the health and safety of its people.
This is an important time we are now in, that will literally set precedence for the rest of the United States ( and inevitably the rest of the GMO-ridden world ) The GMA is currently also pushing a bill in congress that would pre-empt all states from passing GMO labeling laws; There are 25 other states currently holding bills with similar labeling laws and you can be pretty certain that many of them, especially the ones who are already one-foot-in- and- one foot out the door- with clauses in their bills that are contingent entirely on whether other states also pass the laws- will drop that shit like it’s hot.

Whilst i read that Vermont took extended pre cautions in putting the bill together that would protect them from this inevitable legal action, ensuring that if taken to court the bill would stand- stranger things have happened when there are corporate dollars and shareholders profit-margins involved. So whether this suit will stand and abolish the good that’s been done, or whether this is an intimidation tactic aimed at fucking with the heads of state holding yet-passed bills around the country, into fearsome retraction, all around  it would be wise to think if Vermont beats it- that the rest of the country ( and hopefully Canada ) will be on its way to making it mandate to label ( and eventually, prayerfully abolish ) GMO’s. Those at the helm of the GMO death machine really hate the idea of labeling as it forces them to not only take on the massively high
cost of reprinting what’s likely to be nearly all products in a line depending on the brand – expand that across hundreds if not thousands of brands and product lines. To get an idea of what this would cost from a packaging perspective alone, for one single SKU – say like a bag of frozen corn- redesign alone could be in the thousands if they employ an agency for their marketing needs.
Multiply that by the 300 corporations within the GMA and all their architectures and products. Not to mention the reality That they will be required to divulge all their dirty secret poisons now hidden in your food. Pick up any label at the grocery store and there is already cause enough for concern around the chemicals, carcinogens and heavily toxic shit that is already on display for all to see, I can only imagine what the unveiling might look like should it become a mandatory duty of corporations, now duping you with claims of all natural and deliberately doing harm via other ingredients.  So while this labeling law is not really a realist’s or idealists answer to the issues facing humanity and its food systems, it is a small step towards awakening, it’s a win for truth and it will effectively put the purchasing power into the hands of an informed consumer.

I published this piece and returned hours later to add an important point I left out – the reality of most of middle class North America.
The economic status of the 99%
Is as such that labeled or not most cannot afford to eat clean- meaning consciously, organically, outside the failed food paradigm.Despite having the most billionaires per capital, the US is a country where poverty levels are ever rising and the luxury of being mindful of what is in the food, becomes secondary to actually having food on the table. Families: in more debt than ever and tethered by so much that even if you flat out told an average american they were feeding their family genetically modified meals they might very well be inclined to say fck it for fear of not making the mortgage otherwise. an orchestrated reality and vicious cycle with no forseeable overnight remedy.
as a counterpoint to the campaign to label – i pose the question would an average blue collared american living paycheque to paycheque be better or worse in the short term, for having the knowledge that their food was genetically modified shit?
would it be just another burden atop already weighted shoulders?
would it cause an onslaught of lawsuits of its own once peeps discover the health impact of GMOS?
would it overwhelm the already flailing healthcare system?
Deliver an influx of revenue to big pharma by way of peeps, who barely now holding by a thread – to meltdown and in turn become part of the Prozac-Ed masses?
or would it be a welcome veritas, opening eyes and challenging us all to do better? to fight harder? to re-direct billions from a poisonous food system and see revolutions and evolutions in how humanity eats?
will people wisen and rise up to reclaim their rights to live well?
Questions I can’t answer, however feel the need to ask. This issue of labeling GMOS is really such a small piece of such a monstrous puzzle with pieces constantly morphing in size…
My vote is always for truth.
For awareness.
For freedom and justice and the right to information that is intrinsically already theirs-in a system based on buying..
But it serves to be said without education around all of what we face, without understanding of the magnitude of the scheme,
Without proactive, conscious choices we are complicit in our ultimate destruction.

While this crazy battle for control over what goes knowingly into your body is all taking place under the bane of the great land of the free- it effects the entire world –  your Right-to-Know is a legal principle,  your health & wellbeing, the future of your children, grandchildren, the food chain as a whole- all vital to protect. So while a lawsuit which doesn’t receive much mainstream media attention may not seem like something incredibly important to put your energy, intention and support behind- this is so much bigger, it’s about people vs. profits, corporate vs. human, your life.  = weighty stakes.

In other words, these battles between multi-billion corporations versus consumer health and rights belong to all of us.

the real solution for a life-sustaining, functional food system  goes beyond the obvious act of corporations implementing a cradle-to-cradle ethos in their product lifecycles… to actually shifting the fundamentals upon which our beliefs are built. To retrace the steps of the ancients, our distant ancestors, people in far off countries with no clue what a GMO is or why it would be in their food- and make a return to living from the land, in harmony with it vs. in a mode of constant violent rape and destruction, learning how to sustainably utilize natural resources and rebuild the ecosystems and environments destroyed over hundreds of years of useless industrialization and excess that some call progress, honouring the earth for what it provides- which at heart, is every single thing we need to thrive.

i will as a prologue offer ideas and resources for this. in the meantime- please use the power you do have, use what you have in your arsenal to ensure a better life for future generations, make the small steps that are large in impact and importantly- learn the practice of forgiveness and compassion, for all people. This is the only true freedom we have in this life.

In all of this, you have the power to shift the balance. Here is how to get empowered:

activism, education, avoidance,

quick ways to add your voice:

blog, reblog, share, tweet, fb, whatever social media suits your fancy- about these issues. Share the infographics and the lists and the reasons why. Speak the fuck up, tell whomever will listen- The more peeps get in the faces of big corporate, the more they will begin to actually see us, recognize the humanity that they are striving to destroy. Use social media as the incredible force that it is to make positive change- its being done all over the world. Every brand has a facebook page, a twitter account, write on their timelines, tweet @them and ask them tough questions, ask them to stop the destruction. It may be like talking to a wall – however every brand has a brand image to protect that is massively valuable to them and with the transparency that social media forces- there is nowhere to hide, they cant choose to just ‘leave you off the labels’ that are their pages. You can effect change.

The Organic Consumers Association rallied 500k to help Oregon pass their GMO labeling initiative, and are currently vying to raise for Vermont as well as intensifying their efforts of grassroots lobbying and marketplace pressure to defeat Big Business in the eyes of public opinion. Learn the language of the enemy: know how to spot GMO’s

 saynotogmo

For years i worked to empower ethical business through promoting the positive purchase, instigating you into harnessing your collective consumer buying power – precisely what i would advocate now, it’s the most powerful weapon in your arsenal.

Boycotting the brands:

of the Parent companies /any brands part of the Monsanto Mafia  ) is a feat not always easy, nor without complexity as every day it seems an organic brand is gobbled up by big business- keep that in mind while either printing out these infographics or saving them on your smartphone

for a list of the ‘terrible twenty’ members of the GMA- visit: http://www.theboycottlist.org/

NO-monsanto

Choosing to buy from small businesses and independent and organic brands. Organic doesn’t always mean organic, nor does it mean GMO free, nor does it mean independently owned, sustainably produced, ethical or without an evil parent puppeteering its supposed healthy strings- However you look at it, Big Business is lurking in your cereal. Weed him out.

which corporations own your organic brands?

most sugar substitutes are chemical cocktails + GMO’s, Monsanto invented the cancer-causing saccaharin back in the day, which has now evolved into so many other names- all as sweetly evil:

lastly, if you need a refresher on the deeds that define Monsanto:

monsanto's crimes against humanity- a dirty dozen

march against monsanto Toronto 2014 – Nourished Warrior EMPOWER

It began on a long awaited- summery- late May morning, insomniac the night before, filled with endless thoughtloops spinning round my consciousness left over from the previous evenings refresher on the top evil deeds perpetrated by what was voted by Natural News readers as 2013’s ‘ most evil corporation ‘ of the yearthe one, the only, the notorious, the vile and villainous Monsanto. It was a gorgeous day in Queens Park and slowly the gathering of Activists, Concerned Parents, Conscious People and Political groups began to grow.

The peeps behind the day: Millions Against Monsanto the Organic Consumers Association, plus Toronto Non-GMO coalition (a group of organizations from the Toronto area who are working together to increase awareness and effect positive change around GMO issues. ) and The Kids Right To Know. With a Facebook event confirming the attendance of at least 1500, not to mention those of us who refuse to use social media channels – the hope was to reach numbers in the several thousands, people trickled in bit by bit as the little hand crept past the 11, a seeming disorganized mob of protestors began to rally into  a semblance of order as those of us bearing signs were beckoned to the front for photos.

There were some fantastic pieces of work, a few of my favourites ” im so angry i made a sign ” although sarcastic and a bit of a joke, nurture nature, give bees a chance, the angry corn, the bee in a gas mask, we are not your science  experiment, and the 5 armed mutant octopus ( insert obvious symbolism here ) with far-reaching tentacles each grasping one of the evils Monsanto stands for that my Brother had artfully crafted the night before and affixed mcgyver-like to a tennis racket, which quickly became a celebrity with endless photo-requests and paparazzi-esque attention that lasted all day… my choice to go straightup and simple was expressed with an acronym: G-ive M-e O-rganic, i happily affixed a rope to it and slung it around myback.

me@march

One of the highlights of the morning was a most inspiring 16 year old ( and a Friend of my Friend’s Daughter ) – Rachel Parent, who founded at the tender age of 12 ” The Kids Right To Know, & “GMO Just Label It! Campaign”  helping to create mass awareness about the risks of GMOs and pushing for mandatory labeling)  This is the type of teenager that gives me hope for the future of humanity. In a world where the average person hasn’t a clue who Monsanto even is- and would rather watch American Idol than educate themselves on what harm they are doing on the daily, the notion that there are youth who aren’t prey to device disconnect and instead harness this world of mass connection to campaign for unity on the shit that really matters, fills me with appreciation and trust that the future generations may not be entirely lost. With brave and educated young leaders to rally their peers, we have a chance at uniting to save this world from the clutches of all that which we march in protest against. A brief speech on the importance of labelling GMO’s and banning neo-nics gave way to a slew of gratitude, cheers and drum beats as we began our anti-gmo journey.

The crown jewel of the march was a large black coffin filled to the brim with one million dead bees, lost over just a few short months. The death of the bees is a result of the Canadian Government’s ignorant allowance of the use of agricultural neonicotinoid pesticides, ( which harms not only bees but butterflies and birds as well ) primarily used to coat GMO corn and Soy, yet once airborne can traverse its toxicity far and wide…  As we began our march in requiem for the bees we made a quick stop at the parliament building at Queens Park, staging a funeral for today’s casualties of neonicotinoids- one million dead bees, brought to their funeral by Ontario Beekeepers, pallbearers in full beekeeping garb solemnly led the service in honour of the one million lost over a short winter season, followed by a speech aimed at educating masses on the dangers of neonicotinoids and their continued use in our food supply.

 1922288_10151998664087245_8089749291607626645_nBee-Wise:

One in every three bites of food you eat, is made possible by the efforts of our bees. A requiem for so many lost inspires a great deal of fear, and as well it should as many, government included, continue to support mega-corps like Monsanto, and their efforts to corrupt and destroy our food chain from every perceivable angle. And you’ve gotta give ’em credit really, evil ninjalike villains they are- populous isn’t consuming poisons quickly enough to meet their motive, and with so many awakening- what is the most effective next step to take? Whomever had the ah-ha moment, must have let forth a great villainous cackle as they set plans in motion to unleash the swift mass-murder of the very thing that renders our food supply edible.

just to be clear- Colony Collapse Disorder is serious threat to all of us. It is estimated that nearly a third of honeybees worldwide have already been wiped out. Without these bee colonies, pollination crucial for harvest does not happen. At the very least lower crop yields mean higher prices, and eventually all access to produce will diminish entirely.  That’s of course assuming we are referring to organic crops, because GMO crops are engineered to ‘self-pollinate’ – meaning they have no use for nature or for bees, and what happens when an evil giant has no use for something? it gets wiped out. ( the intention here is to gain a total domination strong-hold over the entire world’s food supply, effectively meaning everyone, everywhere has no choice but to consume their genetically engineered and patented seeds )

so WTF does Monsanto care about Bees?

Monsanto, is well aware that pollinators throw a proverbial wrench into their monopoly, ie: Bees allow for crops outside of their total control agenda. Therefore the more GMO’s planted, the more toxic chemicals like Neo-nics used, the more bees will die as they attempt to pollinate. This is a sad reality that has been happening since the introduction of GMO’s into the food supply.
Hilariously, to counter the notion that they are responsible for this mass genocide of bees, Monsanto stealthy decides to buy out a company called Beeologics, the largest bee research firm, previously dedicated to studying the colony collapse phenomenon and whose extensive research named Monsanto as the primary suspect. Shortly after they held a summit with beekeepers which outlined research findings asserting that instead of Beelogic’s previously confirmed GMO crops and deadly insecticides responsibility for bee decimation- the real culprit is actually a small insect called the ‘varroa mite.’ ( a germ that sparks bee viruses)
Beeologics has had a cozy relationship with the USDA, convenient for Monsanto as it will no doubt exploit Beeologics’ ‘biological tools’ in the development of more GMOs, crop chemicals and god knows what else, under the pretense of championing sustainability and progress- all the while obliterating the bee population, the natural environment, organic food and inevitably- humanity itself.

march2014hey, ho, GMOs have got to go, Hey ho, go fuck yourself Monsanto”– whatever chant you were singing that day- you can be certain is was a mantra of shared essence, to make ourselves heard through the streets of Toronto, as typical drivers slowed to look at us slant eyed, some honked in approval and others scowled in inconvenience, ignorant to the notion that we marched for them, their children, their future generations. As we made our way to the beat of a rhythmic tribal drum, the experience became something more than simple protest, chant and assembly of activism- it transcended immediate action into something of a ritualistic, tribal ceremony. Signs waving, mantras repeated like so much japa prayer, and we marched, and we danced and we laughed our way through Toronto’s busiest intersections- immune to the passers-by with put-upon looks, empowering the observers who emanated prideful looks.

Throughout the duration of the 60 minutes or so we marched, chanted and made clear our message to the big blue skies,  i remained continuously astounded by one thought- that fellow activists, advocates and concerned, conscious citizens ‘on five continents, 52 nations and at least 400 cities- round the globe were joined with us, in shared intention. And despite the fact that mainstream media coverage was minimal if not, non-existent, despite the fact that we were lobbying against a super-giant villain with the deepest pockets on the planet, despite the fact that every day it becomes more and more of a foraging hunt and gather to find untainted food options, despite the fact that we were effectively on mute to many of the programmed masses, on this day, across the world we were gathered in shared purpose, setting a collective intention, cultivating a massive wave of collaborative energy that despite all those despites – was shifting something… it was electric in the air and beyond any shadow of doubt- i felt this shifting that brought peace to my troubled mind full of protest for all the evil that i stood against, full of anger for so much death and mass destruction, a shift that only an allegiance of awakened souls could bring about.

Even if that’s just my own singular perspective in an infinite sea of subjective views,  the truth is so much bigger than that- we’d created a global wave of love, and a message of momentum against tolerance– for the oppression, the destruction, the corruption, the degradation, the monopolization… that the genetic engineering of our world is impossible- as long as we sustain this shared intention. Continue to generate this potent and powerful energy of positivity, of progression, of revolution- real change starts with one step. And that day we made many steps, marching for the future of our world.

A monster so much bigger than our organic farmers and our small businesses, our fair trade foods and mom and pop shops- our untainted fields and our legal rights- we may be small. But the magnitude of the monster is dwarfed by the size of our hearts. The capacity of our hope and the energy of our collective voice for change.

the reality remains, unless drastic action is taken to stop Monsanto in its continued quest to dominate global agriculture, the food supply as we know it will continue to destruct, organic farms will disappear one by one. Clean food and safe futures will diminish. This is why we march. This is why the somewhat annoying chant ‘hey-ho G M O’s have got to go, ‘ rolled ’round in my head for days to follow that march, this is why i cannot sleep at night, this is why i petition you to use your voice. to make change within yourself. to educate, to awaken, to share the message as far and wide as you can. The mass media outlets who did not cover our march have vested interests, they cannot broadcast the truth, nor spread the information that is so vitally needed to preserve the future of our planet and ourselves. It’s grassroots efforts, grassroots media, grassroots business that must rise up in collective effort to take back what is rightfully ours.

for those who are unfamiliar, or need a refresher- here is an infographic detailing the dirty dozen- perpetrated upon the world by Monsanto. Please share, PIN, instagram, tweet, print, post and promote the awakening as far and as wide as you can. You don’t have to march nor be an activist, you dont have to give anything up- aside from any mis-guided beliefs that turning up the covers will make the monster stay in the closet. please use your social media prowess to make change.
